A female indicted with stalking Kate McCann reportedly deposited her a phone message which questioned: "what if I am Madeleine?"

Julia Wandelt, twenty-four, who witnesses stated has consistently asserted she was the vanished Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are standing trial charged with stalking Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February 2025.

On Monday, the court learned communication data and information retrieved from phones recorded Ms Wandelt consistently demanding Madeleine's mother for a DNA test throughout that period.

Madeleine's case in 2007 - when she was three years old during a trip in Portugal - is considered the most widely reported child disappearance cases and remains open.

'I Don't Want Money'

Another voicemail, played in court, recorded Ms Wandelt saying: "I understand I'm fat and not pretty like Madeleine used to be, but I feel what I feel."

While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's monologues with Mrs McCann's recording stated: "Suppose there is a tiny probability that I am Madeleine? Then what? Wouldn't that be significant for you?"

"I do not need money, I have a existence here in Poland, I only wish to discover," she added.

The tribunal was informed that via electronic messages, text messages and calls, Ms Wandelt asked for a biological test, forwarded childhood photos to her phone in a effort to display a likeness to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and stated to have "flashbacks" from a childhood with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, an intelligence analyst with the police force who collated the information, advised the court there "showed no any answers" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt additionally communicated with close associates of the McCanns, as per the phone records.

On 9 October 2024, Gerry McCann responded to a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "incorrect contact information."

On that occasion Ms Wandelt recorded a message on Mrs McCann's recording stating "I won't give up and I plan to establish my position."

The court learned Mrs Spragg struck up a association via internet with Ms Wandelt preceding accompanying her on a trip to the McCanns' residence in Leicestershire in that winter.

Call logs demonstrated Mrs Spragg had contacted through WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to state the news outlets had depicted Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she deserved to be taken seriously in the period leading up to the appearance to Rothley, the county, in that winter.
