Approximately 55,000 homes have currently been harmed by the storms, with their possessions and dwellings destroyed.

Intense precipitation over the past week have compounded the already dire situation of the many hundreds of thousands of uprooted Palestinians in the region, as reported by aid agencies.

"Terrible" Night Creates Serious Dangers

A official characterized the recent storm as "terrible", with rain so heavy that around 15cm (6in) of water gathered on the terrain.

"These conditions was truly terrible for the people. The downpours were so powerful... And the gales were so forceful," said the representative.

There is grave worry that children living in temporary structures in damp clothing will fall victim to hypothermia and other illnesses.

Casualties and Significant Damage

The health ministry have reported that one baby has succumbed from exposure and a minimum of 11 other people have been killed in building collapses caused by the severe weather.

Other reports suggest a greater death toll. Officials reported that multiple homes had fully given way and scores had been partly destroyed.

  • Roughly 55,000 families affected by the weather.
  • More than 40 designated refuges inundated.
  • Many people compelled to find new shelter.

Relief Efforts Seen as Not Enough

Organizations have stepped up shipments of shelter, warm covers and garments since the ceasefire started, but they stress there is still not enough aid reaching those in need.

"Agencies are operating tirelessly to bring in that assistance and to allocate it, but the scale of the necessities is so enormous that we continue to see a great number of individuals and minors who are genuinely struggling nightly," cautioned one official.

Long-Term Challenges and Truce Provisions

The next stage of the truce includes plans for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with future administration, the withdrawal of troops, and other terms.

Aid organizations have stressed the necessity for "greater and continuous aid to respond to pressing and future needs."

The hostilities was sparked by an attack in late 2023. Following actions have led to a significant number of fatalities in the territory, based on official reports.
