This comeback of Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A has sparked widespread enthusiasm across the community. Starting with the gradual unveiling of fresh additions ahead of the title's launch, to trainers forming strong opinions on the full roster of Mega Evolutions, there's plenty for enthusiasts to look forward to.

With many of the Mega Evolutions boasting unique designs that emphasize their personalities, one idea came to mind: How can connect this with zodiac signs? The following is based on a blend of intuition, common zodiac traits, and personal experience.

Aries – Super Camerupt

Honestly, Houndoom was nearly selected for Aries, as they are the Super Form and zodiac symbol that inspire the most fear. However, a Mega Houndoom appears as always angry, which isn't typical of the Aries vibe, renowned for being fun, light-hearted, and impulsive. That's why the Ram far more akin to Super Camerupt, which only spews lava when angered. Stay on the good side of either and enjoy a strong ally; should you offend them, prepare to get burned.

Taurus – Super Heracross

Much like a devoted Bull, the steadfast Heracross, both in its standard and Super Form, has assisted numerous trainers in Legends: Z-A. While trustworthy, each the creature and a Taurus are also battle-oriented, and – be it their trainer or a firm belief – will defend their side to the end. What about Mega Heracross that reminds me most of my Taurus friends, however, is its unabashed love of snacks. This Pokémon's official description also mentions its capacity to foresee an opponent's future actions, which seems very similar to a socially-savvy Gemini.

The Crab – Super Manectric

Oh, did you assume I was going to select Pyroar for the lion of the zodiac? Aside from the reality that it would be much too on the nose, The Lion is obviously Super Starmie, the diva whose gams just became an internet sensation for being too glamorous (or terrifying, depending on your preference). Fans couldn’t look away from the purple sea star, and that’s precisely the same energy a Leo brings to the table. Starmie is also rumored to be transmitting radio waves from its red core out into space, and it’s typical of a Lion to be putting on a show, albeit for extraterrestrials.

Virgo – Mega Victreebel

The ever-prepared and constantly-worried Maiden is perfectly encapsulated in Super Victreebel, the Mega with perpetual digestive issues. The zodiac symbol known for being endearingly judgmental is strongly reflected throughout this Pokémon’s whole lineage, from a perpetually shocked face like a Maiden when you tell them you don’t have a retirement plan, to its inverted face that’s similar to the emoji a Virgo posts to the chatroom when everyone says they want to “go with the flow” instead of making a plan.

Libra – Mega Audino

Observe this sweet, empathetic creature, who uses the feelers on its auditory organs to tell how people are emotionally by their pulse. Consistently empathetic – occasionally to a fault – and striving to keep the harmony, there are numerous Libras who would probably benefit from Mega Audino’s skills. Though, let’s be honest, it would probably just cause them to worry even more about others.

Scorpio – Super Banette

Banette is a Pokémon with a surprisingly tragic origin: Abandoned as a doll, it gained sentient through sheer resentment and vowed retribution on its former owner. Per the Pokédex, Mega Evolution, “enhances its vindictiveness.” That seems exactly like many conversations I’ve had with my intense Scorpion acquaintances. A Scorpio adores karma and retribution, making them the perfect pair with Mega Banette.

Sagittarius – Mega Hawlucha

Each Mega Hawlucha and Archers are always staging a performance. Being a Archer myself, the number of occasions I’ve called myself some variation of a “playful little entertainer” is countless. The showiest and most obnoxious Mega Evolution, its Pokédex entry even notes how it “poses to display its strength.” I would do the very same thing if I had some kind of Mega evolved form, making Mega Hawlucha the most fitting Archer match I can think of.

Capricorn – Mega Absol

Were you aware that a Mega Absol has the power to foresee calamities in advance? That exudes the exact same vibe as a Capricorn, who tends to consistently believe they’re correct. Interestingly, similar to a visionary Super Absol, they frequently are. It’s also the absolute first Mega Evolution that trainers encounter in Legends: Z-A – typical of a Goat to join the ground floor of the Mega trend.

Aquarius – Super Chandelure

Detached element Aquarius is possibly the non-fire placement that is closest to a flame symbol – its counterpart is the Lion, and there are numerous jokes about the Archer and Water Bearer being unpredictable partners in crime.
